SPN 4x04 Metamorphosis

Just like them to give me an episode like that when I tought I couldn't love Sam more. Yesterday keepaofthecheez asked about what people love the most about him (for me it's - among others things - how strong he's as a person) and that got me thinking about a lot of different reasons.
And today's episode was OMG, FANTASTIC. I loved all interactions between the brothers, imho we haven't seen them that good (from the writing perspective) for quite some time. Cathryn Humphris is one of the best writers they have (she wrote BUaBS, for example) and that shows in 4x04. We'd waited since the beginning of the season for the confrontation, so I was squeeing inside (PUNCHES! Sammy had them coming, but whoa, great scene). If I didn't know you, I'd want to hunt you. - Dean for sure doesn't pull his punches (literally and otherwise). And Castiel's warning. Let's throw all Sam's faith in his face, shall we. OMG, I loved that.
(And about the actors - chemistry is obviously nothing new, so I won't go there, but someone noticed and I agree that it's great when they have tears in their eyes and you see them there, but you don't see them crying. I totally prefer that than The Single Tear)
And Mom talk! Was she happy? Oh, Sam, dammit. *wants to cuddle and never let go*
And this near-the-lake-or-whatever-water-that-was conversation (Croatoan/Hunted lake scene, anyone?), when Sam's telling Dean about all whats and whys, this is what I do with what I have. ♥
Aaaand the end, Don't thank me, I'm not doing this for you. Or for the Angels, or anybody else. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ He's not gonna keep his word, probably, but what the hell, I love this "I'm not doing this for you" and that he's somehow pissed at Angels (this is my version of the story and I'm sticking with it, because it fits with Sam).
